Industry leaders from the entertainment and media sectors in D.C. gathered to celebrate the official Washington D.C. launch of ’s Entertainment and Media Alumni Alliance.
The celebration was represented by a wide variety of organizations, including Fox News, ABC, CNN, XM Satellite Radio, TV One, Discovery Communications, Film Production and Public Relations agencies, The Associated Press and more.
The exclusive event was held on the roof terrace of 20 F. Street NW Conference Center in Capitol Hill. Upon arrival, guests were greeted with “Pollywood Punch” — the event’s signature cocktail and were given media credentials which, granted them access to the penthouse rooftop suite.
After guests mixed and mingled, took photos and talked about their respective industries, they were then greeted by Caty Borum Chattoo, documentary producer and executive-in-residence at AU’s School of Communication.
AU alumna Betsy Fischer Martin, the former executive producer of NBC’s Meet the Press and executive-in-residence at AU’s School of Public Affairs, gave the keynote. Betsy expressed her gratitude to AU for providing her with the connections that she needed to have a successful career and the importance of an alliance such as EMAA to the AU community. Finally, closing remarks were provided by Jeff Rutenbeck, dean of AU’s School of Communication.
