What’s really good with the police these days. Did you all hear the recent news about the football stars mother in law dying and the family not being there because the police held them up. SMH
Well things got out of hand at Coppin State recently check out what WJZ had to say about it:
At least 13 students are behind bars.
“Nothing like this ever happens, and so it’s really shocking to see that this has happened,” said Tierra Ellis, student.
The campus is quiet now, but the university says shortly before 1 a.m. Friday morning, a brawl broke out at a campus party in the student union. Coppin approved the gathering, even provided chaperons.
“There was an argument between two young ladies, and out of that original argument, additional altercations broke out. But I’m not certain why the altercation started,” said Ursula Battle, school official.
Police tried to break it up, but the fight continued with more people jumping in. Students say the brawl is a blemish on the university.
“Why are you acting like that? You’re suppose to be grown adults, not little kids. Little kids fight and do things like that, not grown adults,” said Chantel Newell, student.
At least one person was injured. As for the extra patrols, students want more of them.
“I really would like to see them patrol more, not just ride around in the jeeps and see them sit in the police booths. No be out and patrol,” Andrea Miles.
Coppin insists students are safe and say beefed up patrols will remain as long as they’re needed. All the students involved in the fight have been charged with disorderly conduct.
The students involved could all be suspended or expelled from the university.
