So there’s been some national buzz about Boston and the little city across the pond ;), so we’re doing a little catch up:
In a somewhat controversial move, Harvard University held its first university wide Black Graduation ceremony on the Law School campus. According to the Boston Globe, the ceremony was not meant to be divisive as all students are welcomed to attend. Instead it was said by one student organizer of the ceremony, “…to celebrate Harvard’s black excellence and brilliance…” The graduation was everything you’d expect it to be including a pause to “Swag and Surf” –
When you finally graduate from Harvard University how else do you celebrate? Today I got to see the next generation of Politicians, Doctors, and Lawyers participate in #blackgraduation #harvard #swag #swagsurfin #dance #happy #celebration #smiles #blackgirlmagic #blackman #NBC #nbcboston #Boston #Cambridge
Not only did Harvard get a Black graduation, they got a Chance The Rapper performance. The rapper did double duty with the performance being a part of Boston Calling “at the same d*mn time!”.

Art imitates life as ABC’s ‘Black-ish’ star Yara Shahidi will join the class of 2021 with her acceptance of her bid to Harvard. Maybe her and Malia Obama will be roomies as the
former President’s daughter is also said to begin her deferred attendance this fall.
Getting commercial fame, local artist Latrell James created the latest jingle for the national feel-good brand Cheerios with “Good Goes Round“. Check out the spot below:
