The D.M.V. for those of you who don’t know (but how could you not know?) stands for the D.C., Maryland, Virginia area. Since the 2 states and District are so close together most people just classify it as one huge place. I personally consider Baltimore apart of the D.M.V.. However, many people haters disagree. What do you think Baltimore are we apart of the D.M.V.?
I think it’s the DMV …I mean..it’s MD! So why wouldn’t it be. Altho D.C. stays hatin on MD lol
by Shannon
Well, we all know that if you don’t live in Baltimore, the other cities Maryland do not claim to be like us and hate on us. But Baltimore is still a city in MD. We are all so close together, yet as different as night and day. So my vote is yes! We are the DMV… the DMV is still fly whether the D or V likes it or not… without us, it would be whack!
by Gospel Fab
I am from and live in Baltimore, but do everything else in DC (work and play/party). I think Baltimore and DC are completely different cities! I prefer DC and would not include Baltimore in the DMV title.
I know that sounds strange, but the 2 cities seem like polar opposites in my opinion…
by mizzbrooks
I agree…Baltimore is apart of the DMV. It’s baltimore..MARYLAND.
However, I do agree with Mizzbrooks I only party in DC…sad but true. Baltimore needs to step its game up.
by Tonya S.
Baltimore should not be included in the DMV. Here’s my list why:
1. DC is white collar, Baltimore is blue collar
2. DC has I-495, Baltimore has I-695
3. DC young black culture is centered around Go-Go; Baltimore’s is centered around club music
4. DC looks down on Baltimore; Baltimore envies DC
5. DC has Metro, Baltimore has MTA
6. DC is full of outsiders, whereas Baltimore is full of natives
Inculding Baltimore in the DMV would be like including Richmond and Norfolk in the DMV and I don’t here anybody saying that. The DMV consists of the District of Columbia, Prince George’s and Montgomery Counties, and Northern Virginia. Places like Anne Arundel, Howard and Frederick Counties can go either way.
by Jay
I definitely have to agree that Baltimore is part of the DMV. Last time I checked DMV stood for D.C, Maryland and Virginia, so any cities within Maryland and Virginia are included in the DMV. If you wanted to incorporate D.C. and it’s surrounding counties then that is what you should say, or instead come up with a name that pertains to just D.C., PG and Mo Co. But since there isn’t one….Baltimore is part of the DMV. Homie above me is just using his personal problems with Baltimore as a means to say that Baltimore isn’t a part of the DMV. The day Baltimore isn’t a part of the DMV is the day Baltimore isn’t a city in Maryland….Oh and another thing D.C has the Redskins where as Baltimore has the Ravens….Case Closed!
by M.Marie
Just to clarify. I live in Baltimore and I like the people here a lot better than those in the DC area, so I have no bias towards DC. I’m just saying the two areas are completely different, and if I were from Baltimore, I would want my own identity and would not want to be lumped in with folks in the DC area. Plus I only hear the term DMV in the DC area. I never hear anybody on 92Q saying what’s up DMV. They call this area Bmore. I know what DMV stands for, and I know Baltimore is in Maryland (Duh). I don’t think the question was “Is Baltimore in Maryland”. That would be a stupid question. I think the name that would cover both Baltimore and DC would be Baltimore-Washington. They came up with the DMV name to represent DC and its suburbs, let them have it.
by Jay
BALTIMORE & D.C. IS “THE DMV AREA”… THEY SHARED THE SAME AIRPORT… (BWI) SAME RADIO STATIONS… PARTY AT THE SAME CLUBS & PLAY THE SAME MUSIC GO-GO AND BALTIMORE CLUB MUSIC… CUZ YOU CAN’T PUT THE “M ” IN DMV WITHOUT B’MORE…JAY & TONYA S &. MIZZ BROOKS ARE LAME FOR YOUR COMMENTS AND U PROBABLY ARE NOT FROM THE DMV AREA… U TRANSPLANT PUSSYASS BAMA BITCHES!!!
by Playboy69
The term DMV just replaced the term the “urea” which is strictly DC & it’s suburbs. I agree with one of the earlier comments, it’s only for DC, PG, MoCo & Northern Va. All the rest of VA…get outta here. All the rest of MD…sorry! We can’t start including those counties up by DE too! Damn
by DMV to NYC
I’m from Baltimore, and I go to school in DC and Baltimore is NOT considered the DMV. The DMV is a term used to describe the culture around the DC area, where people are Redskin and National fans. Baltimore has a culture of it’s own. The DMV is not a GEOGRAPHICAL definition, it’s more so a CULTURAL one. Only outsiders, people who are not from the DMV & Baltimore consider Baltimore a part of it. Natives from both places do not consider Baltimore a part of the DMV; the areas are friendly neighbors.
by SugaBuggin
DMV is DC, MD, VA. Period. DC metro area is DC and its suburbs. DMV is not the same as DC metro. Even Wale and Black Cobain shout out Petersburg/VSU/Ettrick which is 2.5 hours south of DC.
by skope
BALTIMORE is not DMV, period. DMV is mostly including the PG county area and the metro (rail) area in VA. B-more is like a cut/paste of NYC.
DC does not recognize Baltimore as ever existing.
by DC Chick
@ Jay please dont get “Warshington” confused with D.C. Very Different!
by DC Chick
I talk about this all the time. The reason why the DMV does not include Bmore is not because we dislike them (Although most of us don’t) its because the term originated through our radio stations. They grouped DC & PG county together. Also, its because of the metro rail. The Metro is another connection between DC and the surrounding counties.
Look at it like as DC and it’s suburbs (Which are connected by the metro) We pretty live the same life. We take a train to each others sections. We listen to GoGo. We shop at the same places. And now for the first time, we claim each other.
So IMO the DMV is DC-MD(PG,MG)-VA(NoVa) We have damn near the same culture and we are easily accessible. that’s why we say the DMV. BMORE and Lower VA is not apart of the DMV.
by Adaront
HOW U GON SAY BMORE AINT THE DMV IM BORN N RAISED IN BMORE N GOT FAM IN DC N BE IN DC ALL THE TIME THEY THE SAME DAMN METRO AREA NORTH VA DC PG MOCO N BMORE IS THE DMV
by ill410
fuck the people from dc that don’t fuck with us bcuz we from bmore. i like dc bcuz its different but once i say I’m from bore niggas get tight so fuck the fake ass niggas but i have friends in a lot of cities. I’m decking the first person, from the so-called DMV that doesn’t include us, a fucking bama #Flat!
by twiz
why ppl from bmore sayin bama yall aint even from bmore o fakin asses real baltimore ppl would NEVER say that
by j
I love DC and I am from Baltimore, we are not the same area! I think some people from Baltimore want to be a part of the DMV just to seem “cool” but we don’t even listen to go-go or ride the metro, we have very little in common. A few years ago Baltimoreans didnt even know what a DMV was, now all of a sudden we’re the same area. While Wale might occassionally shoutout Lower VA, most of his records like Nike Boots mention MoCo and PG. Just because Baltimore is in Maryland doesnt mean we share the same culture as PG. Thats like saying Hagerstown is in the DMV! Ask a native DMV person and a native PROUD Baltimorean and they’ll both say no!
by Mia
Me being from baltimore never considered baltimore or anyone around this area part of the dmv. but them dc niggas frail as shit. baltimore would punish dc. lor soft ass niggas
by loryo
Honestly I don’t think one person from DC is on this board. I’m from DC and everybody else outside lumps this area as the DMV, but people from Bmore take pride in surviving and being from Bmore just like people from DC scream their city name loud. Anywhere you
go folks have heard of DC and Bmore. It’s the towns in between who struggle for identity and usually group US all together, but they did not play in my neighborhood, ride the metro to Jr high, fight on my basketball courts so we are not the same. Be proud of where you are from and represent it. Even if no one listening to radio in Atlanta has heard of Largo or Arlington. Put your town on the map. You don’t hear Brooklyn dudes claiming jersey dudes so why must I lump myself with dudes from Gaithersburg. NO. Bmore is Bmore and DC is DC!!! All the other places are not a part of DC or Bmore so find your own identities
by B
I’m from Baltimore and no WE ARE NOT APART OF THE DMV. I fux with DC but as pointed out in another post the two cities have 2 different cultures (with the exception of Foamposites, new balances and the local clothing lines that look similar ie Samos and Sabiados lol). Let DC and their surrounding suburbs have their own shit. Think about it, the typical person from Baltimore City is quick to separate their self from Baltimore County so why would we want to be apart of the DMV?? I would leave that to the people that clearly lack identity and didn’t grow up with a sense of pride in where they’re from. I think this started when there hip hop scene started getting a little more light shed on it coupled with the fact there nightlife is a lil bit more poppin so naturally some people wanted to associate with that but whatever the reason if you are a native of either Baltimore or DC you know you didnt grow up associating Baltimore with the DMV. The “M” in the DMV did not originally apply to the entire state of Maryland no more than the V applied to the entire state of Virginia. You won’t catch people from the “7 cities” claiming that DMV shit. They rep their own shit.
by Big Kev
Since wale came out everybody wanna be dmv. Bmore don’t say bama so stop fakin.
And as far as people in pg reppin their town that make no sense. Ain’t nobody from outside the area going know where landover is. But landover like 5 mins from the dc border line. Pg county and some of north va and moco aren’t quite suburban areas. So the areas all center around dc. It ain’t a bumbafuck ass area but its all in the same area. Only people hollering dmv is out of towners and for people who ain’t from here to know the area is bigger than just dc…..
by bmore aint dmv
I’m from the DMV, I was born and raised in PGC. Bmore is far from being apart of the DMV. I went out town somewhere out west and they ask where I’m from so I said from DC, that person say I have a brother who lives in Arlington. Now like I said before I’m from PG which is in MD and his brother lives in Arlington which is in VA. Now if I go so where and I tell them I live is MD they would think that I’m from Bmore or farther north. But the DMV and Bmore are totally different. We listen to go-go they listen to house music or whatever, we talk totally different, they some bamas, we dress different. No disrespect but some DC folks don’t even like Bmore. In any of Wale’s song did he say that bmore was part of DMV. NEVER. Put it this way is you can’t get on the Metro (to get downtown) without taking a shuttle, train, long car ride than you not from the DMV area. Point blank!!! I’m proud to say that I’m from DC,this is my home!!!
by I Love DMV
I definitely wouldn’t consider baltimore a part of the DMV. DC is it’s own little universe. It’s beautiful and has tons of things to do. I miss it soo soo much, wish I could go back. If you’re looking to move there, id check out this yahoo article:

“I was born and raised in PGC. Bmore is far from being apart of the DMV. I went out town somewhere out west and they ask where I’m from so I said from DC”… I love DMV. This is what I am talking about, people from the county surrounding Baltimore and DC always want to claim both cities… Hence this DMV crap from DC surrounding areas. No if you go out of town you need to tell someone you are from Clinton or Laurel ect right outside of DC. People from DC are the only people who can say IM FROM DC born and raised. First off DC is a little rougher around the edges and a little tougher to grow up in, I would have loved to live in ft Washington with my cousin in a beautiful neighborhood but I didn’t. So as a urban youth growing up in DC or Baltimore you feel a little prestige or pride to say you grew up there so how dare anyone even 10min away just throw themselves in the mix. And to still be able to live and find a spot in DC with all the ridiculously high housing prices and inflation while others ran to pg county I take great pride in still being in DC. When I tell professional people I’m from DC and live here they wow really? DMV is what va and md people say… I am from DC, take the d out and say wma Washington metropolitan area.
by B
Umm sorry bmore ur not i wont see a rack of dreadheads up there in bmore all I see is fat wannabes and old unks who think they ole g s but not Woodbridge va wassup we get wpgc down here and dc 101 lls fuck outta here lls it’s doesn’t matter if u live in Virginia and you can see md across the Potomac then your part of the dmv

DMV is the areas close to DC. You aren’t a party of the DMV because you’re in MD. You’re part of three DMV because you are so close to DC that you may as well be in DC and you probably grew up there. Since when did this area hate on Baltimore? The only thing we liked was the harbor there and we now have a better one here. Stop the foolishness people. LOL
by Native Washingtonian
I never knew what a dmv was till i went to job corps in bmore. im from va. i been in and out of jail since i was a 12 and it was always va verses dc. So when i got job corps later in life i aint even realize i was supposed to dislike bmore untill i felt the tension and the first riot broke out and it was va, dc and pg county rumbling with bmore niggaz. Its cultural most niggaz in dc and md got family in va and vica versa. we talk the same walk the same and think the same cause nine out of ten niggaz in all three areas got uncles , aunts, fathers brothers etc etc in that area. So we all jy like rock the same. Bmore is a diffrent thing though even though its in md they got mad diffrent they got they own thing and they cant stand us at all. So to know they cant stand us and to see them want to claim dmv now that the dmv is popping i think is corny. Real bmore niggaz know they aint dmv and dont care they dont want to claim that shit they on they bmore shit and i respect that. Bmore niggaz cant stand anything from pg county down they hate all of us with a passion i seen it first hand. Evey fight or riot was always sparked by them constantly talking shit while dmv niggaz was more focused on getting some pussy smoking a blunt and playing the cut.

You people are confused. DMV refers to Washington DC and its surrounding suburbs. Making the dumb assumption that all of Maryland is apart of DC just because of the name would mean that Richmond, which is a good 108 miles away from DC, would also be apart of the DMV. Again, for those who were unfamiliar before, DMV is the nickname for the Washington Metropolitan Area. Simple. Baltimore is its own city with its own metro area. It’s is NOT by any chance apart of the DMV.

Hi to all, it’s truly a pleasant for me to visit this site, it contains priceless Information.

Baltimore is not culturally a part of the DMV! Most Baltimoreans don’t want to be a part of the DMV.
Baltimore-Ravens, DMV- Redskins?
Baltimore-club music, DMV-gogo,
Baltimore city is different from all of the surrounding counties (including Baltimore county).
by wtf
These are some of the most ridiculous comments I have ever read. To assume that a whole group of ppl from bmore or pg/Dc hate each other is so naive. Everyone here should be ashamed of being so wrapped up into themselves. I was born in DC grew up in Baltimore and Germany and have family in Maryland DC and VA. I now live in NY and I can say no one outside Maryland DC and VA cares about this at all. Why don’t you all get on a plane and get some culture. Be proud of where your from but never put others growing experience . There is beauty and ugliness rich and poor hood and suburb in all of these places. Let’s learn to appreciate it all
