It was an evening to remember as hundreds filled the rooftop of the Newseum for Café Mocha Radio’s 2018 Salute her Initiative event with the theme, “The Time is Now.”
The reception and panel discussion, presented by Café Mocha Radio and Ubiquitos Beauty, Hair and Health Expo was held in celebration of Women’s History Month. During the event, they honored Essence Communications’ new owner, Richelieu Dennis and president Michelle Ebanks.
The panel discussion, which was hosted by Cafe Mocha Radio host Loni Love and Fox 5 anchor Allison Seymour, gave attendees an inside look on how Dennis got his start in the hair business and what inspired him to purchase Essence. Attendees also heard first-hand from Ebanks on how Essence magazine has remained relevant and what we can expect in the future.
There were many D.C. VIPs in attendance, including former TV One anchor Roland Martin, Baltimore City state’s attorney Marilyn Mosby, Kevin Durant‘s mother Wanda Durant, Madame CJ Walker’s great granddaughter A’Lelia Bundles among others.
It was a fabulous evening for all who attended!
