Last week, womenswear brand Ann Taylor hosted Grace Bonney, the creator of popular lifestyle and design website Design*Sponge, for an evening of cocktails and conversation at the Dupont Circle Ann Taylor location.
More than 100 women from the District were there, including media, influencers, entrepreneurs and alumni from the HERlead Fellowship program, a groundbreaking partnership between Ann Inc. and Vital Voices aimed at training and empowering the next generation of female leaders,
Attendees were treated to a unique networking and panel discussion event moderated by Bonney, featuring a quartet of powerhouse entrepreneurs from the D.C. area: Amanda McClements, owner of Salt & Sundry; Carolyn Misterek, founder of Matine; Jamyla Bennu, co-founder of Oyin Handmade and Ximena Hartsock, co-founder of Phone2Action.
The four panelists imparted their business expertise and wisdom on modern womanhood during the hour-long discussion about entrepreneurship and social change.
The discussion concluded with a special Q&A, allowing guests to seek first-hand tips and tricks from the influential women.
Guests also enjoyed light bites and drinks as they perused Ann Taylor’s Spring 2017 collection and took home signed copies of Bonney’s bestselling new book, In the Company of Women, as a gift with purchase.
The event took place just one day after International Women’s Day and Vital Voices’ 20th Anniversary Gala honoring Hillary Rodham Clinton, and helped serve as a sneak peak into the fashion brand’s new monthly discussion series with the author, featuring stories of inspired and inspiring women.
The series will launch on www.AnnTaylor.com in early Spring.
