Recap: The National Urban League Gala Brings The Best To Baltimore’s Convention Center

It was a night to remember this past Saturday inside the Baltimore Convention Center as hundreds packed into the Grand Ballroom for the annual National Urban League Gala.

The organization’s gala feted four power-packed days of political and community building at the 2016 National Urban League Conference.

The room was also filled with several notables, such as Marilyn and Nick Mosby, mayor candidate Catherine Pugh, TV personality Bevy Smith, political activist Deray, actor Lamman Rucker and several others.

The evening included a performance by R&B legend Angela Winbush, who wowed the audience with her entertaining set, as well as a delicious dinner, dessert and inspiring speeches from a number of sponsors, who proudly supported the week of events.

Our favorite quote of the night came from Wilbert W. James, president of Toyota Motor Corp, when he shared with the audience his thoughts on economic empowerment:

We are committed to advancing the culture of inclusion at Toyota. We are constantly looking for ways to increase access to mobility everywhere for people who have fewer limits. Mobility helps with good jobs, education and advancement and that’s what we aim to do.

It was a night to remember! We look forward to the next conference, which will be held in St. Louis in July 2017.
