Recap: Capital Solstice, A Pop-Up Black Tie Dinner Soiree, Brings Out the Best of DC

The place to be on Friday night in DC (besides President Obama’s 55th Birthday Bash), was Timothy Thompson Concepts‘ summer soiree called “Capital Solstice.”

Hosted by WPGC’s Guy Lambert, the formal event raised money to support Becky’s Fund, a non-profit organization whose mission is to raise awareness about domestic violence.

The black-tie dinner and gala took place at Echostage (2135 Queens Chapel Road NE) and the venue was transformed into a trendy, yet elegant atmosphere that was visually stimulating.

Each attendee had the opportunity to listen to live music and dine on a succulent nine course tapas style dinner, prepared with food from local farmer’s markets.

The menu, prepared by Thompson, included seafood corn chowder, pan roasted salmon fricassee, short ribs, salads and a variety of desserts.

The highlight of the evening was a fashion presentation provided by International designer Korto Momolu, the first runner-up on Season Five of Project Runway. All of the designs were beautiful and had an “island” theme.

DC’s elite was definitely in the building.  We spied radio personality Sunni and the City; television and radio host Danella Sealock and former reality TV star Demetria Lucas D’Oyley.
