To celebrate Kerry Washington‘s latest Elle cover, the magazine’s editor-in-chief Robbie Myers hosted a dinner party in her honor last week.
“Not just because of how she looks: beautiful, fierce and in command, but because of who Kerry is, right at this moment, and what she’s come to represent in our culture,” she said at the dinner party.
Kerry also addressed the dinner guests, which included law professor Anita Hill, whom she’s playing in HBO’s “Confirmation,” which premieres tonight.
The actress said, “What’s meaningful to me about stories is that we can put ourselves in other people’s shoes. A story that is, in this case, one that had an incredibly powerful impact on how our institutions thought about women, and their right to not only speak their truth, but to be heard.”
