Last weekend, the Atlanta community came out to the Historic Old 4th Ward Park for “The Beautiful Walk,” a 2K walk.
This inaugural walk was aimed to redefine the definition of beauty. Its aim is also to empower women to define their own standards of beauty beyond images portrayed in mass media. Attendees were encouraged to find their inner beauty through self-esteem building, higher education, financial acumen and building meaningful connections.
Guests enjoyed over 30 vendors, performances, and also engaged in a panel discussion featuring thought leaders and local leadership.
The walk’s ambassadors included Porsha Ferguson, Navia Robinson, Tyanna Jone, Roshawnna Novellus and A. Lekay. Also, several women were awarded including Chanita Foster.
The Beautiful Walk founder Ardre Orie said after last weekend, she’d like to expand the walk nationally.
“I wanted to start in Atlanta, the place where I grew so much in my career and with my family. Our next stop is Chicago,” she said in a statement. “I want women to confidently display the best version of themselves without fear, shame or doubt — that is what The Beautiful Mile is all about.”
