Recap: Katt Williams Performs At An Unorganized Royal Farms Arena

I was shocked when I walked into Royal Farms Arena (201 W. Baltimore) on Sunday evening to see that the venue was packed to capacity at nearly 12,000 people. You would have thought Kevin Hart or Beyonce were in town the way people pushed through the doors and stood in line for over 30 minutes with tickets in hand, but no the crowd was here for notorious comedian Katt Williams.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t peeved at how unorganized Royal Farms Arena  was. The lines to check your tickets were a thirty minute wait on each side. They only had 8 people assisting with ticket check in for thousands of people. It was awful and unmanageable. Attendees pushed and shoved trying to get the line to move faster and became increasingly frustrated at the lack of support from Royal Farms employees.

Once we made our way to our seats, which we got to late because the line was so incredibly long I had gotten past my irritation and was ready to settle in, enjoy my cocktail and watch the opening act. However, it was hard to do that since it was pitch dark and there were barely any ushers to help people find their seats. One young man even fell!

Still, despite the drama of the Royal Farms Arena clearly not having enough employees on duty for the night, it was an amazing show! Comedian Red Grant hosted the evening and he was absolutely hilarious! Katt Williams had several opening acts, but the one that stood out to me the most was veteran and surprise guest Mark Curry. He was one of the best stand up acts I’ve ever seen, joking about relationships and cougars. I could hardly contain the tears that flowed from laughter and I would certainly see him on tour.

The main attraction, Katt Williams also gave a great show and talked about everything from why he loves Baltimore to political issues. Although the show ran until almost midnight, it was absolutely a blast. I see why Baltimore can’t get enough of Katt. We also spotted his new girlfriend, reality star Hazel E who escorted him off stage when the show was over. All in all, it was a fun time!
