Recap: White House Hosts PBS’ “In Performance” Event Feat. Usher, Smokey Robinson and Queen Latifah


Last night, the White House made beautiful music as President Obama hosted PBS’s “In Performance at the White House” event in the East Room.

The evening celebrated the 50th anniversary of the National Foundation on the Arts and the Humanities Act.

Artists such as Usher, Queen Latifah, Shorty Trombone and Smokey Robinson entertained the crowd.

You can see it all when PBS airs the special event Jan. 8 at 9 p.m.

Earlier in the day, musicians such as Smokey, MC Lyte, Elle Varner and Esperanza Spalding spoke to students during the “A Celebration Of Song: In Performance At The White House Student Workshop” event.
