Cafe Mocha Radio created an afternoon filled with positivity and uplift last Saturday as they celebrated the accomplishments and achievements of eight phenomenal women through the “Salute Her: Women Making A Difference Awards” Brunch.
The event, which took place at the Fab Award-winning venue, Howard Theatre, was hosted by Cafe Mocha Radio producer and co-host, Angelique Perrin, along with actor, T.C. Stallings.
The honorees were women who share a common commitment to make a positive contribution to strengthen their respective communities. The recipients included Sybrina Fulton, mother of Trayvon Martin, Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth, television personality and ordained minister, Michel Wright, radio personality of Majic 102.3 and Sirius XM radio, Stacey Ferguson, chief curator of‘Blogalicious, Triscina Grey, radio personality of WHUR-FM, Ida Lewis-Polite, president of Ida’ Idea Clothing, Esther Aguilera, President and CEO of Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute and Reverend Dr. JoAnn Browning, co-Pastor of Ebenezer A.M.E Church.
Other attendees included Jawn Murray of AlwaysAList.com, Jacquie Gales-Webb of 96.3 WHUR, Jamie Foster-Brown of Sister 2 Sister magazine and Gwendolyn Quinn of GQ Media & Public Relations.
Guests were able to enjoy a performance from Kindred the Family Soul. They dedicated their song, “Stars” to the honorees. They also sang their most popular single, “Far Away”.
Prior to the event, guests were able to enjoy a VIP reception where they mingled with the honorees and others who were present at the event. In addition, gift bags from Chicos were given to all attendees.
The Salute Her Awards Brunch not only served as a place to honor great women, but it also served as a fundraiser to support The Howard Theatre Restoration, Inc. STEAM initiative (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) to improve education for Washington youth in grades K-12.
