Recap: Candace Bushnell Brings ‘Sex and the City’ to DC’s POV Lounge

CBby Mia Fields-Hall

Author Candace Bushnell, whose book Sex and the City spawned a cultural phenomenon, hosted a fabulous affair at The W Hotel’s POV Lounge (515 15th St) on Wednesday evening for her new book, Killing Monica.

Her latest book is about a woman whose books have given her much success — even blockbuster films. And although her publisher wants her to keep writing books that will keep her in the headlines, PJ wants to write about something different. It drink2doesn’t help that her greedy husband wants her to keep making money for his dream of a Las Vegas restaurant. But when her marriage goes up in flames, she has to chart her own course.

A few hundred women flocked to The W dressed in their Carrie Bradshaw best to meet Candace and get pampered by Bliss Spa and Blue Mercury. The ladies also sipped on signature cocktails.

My favorite part of the evening was getting my lips done by the super sweet make up artist of Blue Mercury, who also gave my friend and I complimentary makeover coupons. Sweet!

Killing Monica is in bookstores nationwide.
