Washington Redskins‘ Defensive Lineman Chris Baker married ESPN Senior Talent Producer Jamila Phillips last Saturday inside The W Hotel in D.C.
With 160 guests looking on, according to WaPo, including teammates Chris Nield and Jason Hatcher, along with Steven Bowen, 49ers’ NoVarro Bowman and the St. Louis Rams’ Doug Worthington, Jamila walked down the aisle to her man.
Fab Award-nominated deejay, DJ Schemes, spun hits at the couple’s reception. And after the wedding, the two trekked to Saint Lucia for their honeymoon.
So how did the two meet? Apparently, Jamila attended the same church as Chris’ parents. After chatting her up, Chris’ mom text him that he should meet Jamila. After talking daily for three months, the two finally met after the NFL season ended.
Jamila told Essence magazine how Chris popped the question. Apparently, Chris planned to trek to Miami for four days during bye week.
“The night of the proposal we relaxed on the balcony and enjoyed taking in the beautiful ocean view, Chris and I then headed inside and began discussing our future and how much we love each other. At this moment, Chris was down on both knees with a box in his hand (he later joked that he wasn’t sure which knee to get on so he got down on both). I can’t even remember his words but I began to cry and ask, ‘Is this really happening?’ I said yes,” she described.
