The Fab Awards: And the Winner Is…

We asked you to vote for the best deejay, your favorite D.C. venue, the socialite who stays on the scene, the promotional team who doesn’t fail to throw a good party, the entrepreneur shining the most and the best event D.C. had to offer last year, and you voted.

And after counting nearly 10,000 votes, the winners for the fifth edition of The Fab Awards are:

So what did our winners say when they first found out over two weeks ago that they had won?

DJ Heat, the only female nominee in her category and the first female deejay to win DJ of the Year said, “Omgggggg *passes out*” while first time nominee Ray Cunningham replied, “OMG! Really? Me? *hits the Dougie*”

Natasha Bryson, who orchestrated BET’s 2013 Inaugural Gala, said, “Omg!! Stop it! This is sooo awesome! Wow!! Thank you soo much!! I’m thrilled are you sure? LOL!” while Deanna Jefferson, who is the first winner in our new entrepreneur category said, “Yaaaay!!!! That’s so exciting! Thank you so much!”

Micha Woods, who boasts she was the first employee of the new Howard Theatre said, “I’m excited!” while DT Nation’s Cheick Mbengue exclaimed, “Thanks for considering us!”

We invited our award winners to acclaimed photographer Gary Williams‘ studio in Northeast D.C. for a photo shoot. After an afternoon of cupcakes and champagne, we let the magic happen.
For the next six days, we’ll feature one of our award winners to tell you more about their journey that will hopefully inspire you whether you love nightlife, love D.C. or just love to see young black professionals shine.
