The BET Honors is again taking over Washington, D.C. this weekend. Thankfully, this year’s show — which honors the achievements of distinguished African Americans — will feature performances by Mariah Carey, Jennifer Hudson and Janelle Monae, among others.
We also hear Tamar Braxton and Smokey Robinson will be featured in the telecast, which is being taped Saturday at Warner Theatre. Wayne Brady, as we previously reported, will host for the first time.
The Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin, Motown founder Berry Gordy, American Express chairman/CEO Ken Chenault, visual artist Carrie Mae Weems and Ice Cube are among this year’s honorees.
We’ll be in the building on Saturday, but you can catch it on BET on Feb. 24.
