Last night, inside Manhattan’s Kristalbelli (8 West 36th Street), the cast of Bravo’s newest New York-based reality show, Blood, Sweat & Heels celebrated.
Former “video vixen” turned realtor Melyssa Ford, real estate partner Brie Bythewood, modeling agency owner Mica Hughes, affordable-style expert Daisy Lewellyn, blogger and author Demetria Lucas and style and pop culture journalist Geneva S. Thomas were all there holding court — celebrating with family, friends and media types who came in hopes of a glimpse at the show.
It seemed that all of black New York media was packed in there including model Tyra Banks,
who came carrying the smallest Louis Vuitton bag on her arm, but I digress to support friend Mica, Bevy Smith, host of Bravo’s Fashion Queens, beauty activist Michaela Angela Davis, writers Starr Rhett Rocque, Michael Feeney, Leah Faye Cooper, Ashley Calloway, and Danielle Kwateng along with publicists Syreta Olgesby and Michelle Huff.
Guests enjoyed glasses of Moët & Chandon champagne and specialty cocktails courtesy of Belvedere. Also, each lady had a tray of the most delectable cupcakes — and I don’t even like desserts, but I had two!
NY Fab! got to take home an advanced copy of the first episode of Blood, Sweat and Heels and I must say, I’m pleasantly surprised. It’s nothing like VH1’s Gossip Game so the comparisons can now officially stop. The ladies provide interesting fodder that kept me entertained for the full hour-long episode. My favorite lady so far besides my good friend Geneva was Mica. Her crazy antics will definitely keep viewers tuned in. Also, my favorite lines from the episode — which provides a look at what you can expect come January 5 when the show premieres at 9 p.m. — were:
- “I love Barack Obama. He’s fine as shit.” My girl Mica
- “Men are more stable.” Brie when talking about if women can be president of the U.S.
- “Once you get a Brazilian [wax] that means you’re going to get married.” Daisy
