Janelle Monae is one of the many celebrities in D.C. this week for BET’s Leading Women Defined conference. The three-day womens conference brings the best of the best from every industry to celebrate, discuss and learn from each other.
After a morning chat with Tracee Ellis Ross, LWD featured a luncheon with CoverGirl spokesperson and singer Janelle Monae.
Had an amazing conversation with Esi Eggleton Bracey @bet‘s LWD Luncheon! She is a trailblazer who opened the door 4me to be a Covergirl!

And while Janelle discussed what makes her so CoverGirl worthy, she also dropped some gems for attendees, which included DJ Beverly Bond, writer Keli Goff and Tatyana Ali.
Janelle told the crowd, “Embrace the things that make you unique even if it makes others uncomfortable.”
The singer didn’t stick around D.C. long. She hopped on a plane to Atlanta to see her friend and fellow artist Solange Knowles perform.
