The Fab Awards Boston Tour Kick Off, White Ribbon Night Gala, Valentine’s Day and President’s Day Parties

Big weekend coming up and whether you’re celebrating the V-Day/SAD (Single Awareness Day) or just want to simply focus on the fact that there’s a 3-day weekend coming up, you’ve come to the right place! Oh, and we’re kicking off our Awards Presentation for The Fab Awards this weekend and you should come. Really…it’s gonna be a good time!

Thursday, February14

Sway to the soulful sounds of Sweet Honey in the Rock will be Harvard’s Sanders Theater (45 Quincy St, Cambridge) at 3:30pm. The event is FREE and open to the public.

So you want to embrace V-Day, but don’t know how to do it? Well The Ladies of Spelman Alumnae group are inviting you to their annual, yet unconventional, Cocktails and Connections Speed Dating event at Market (21 Broad St). Mingling drinking starts at 6pm with speed dating starting  promptly at 8pm. Though speed dating is not mandatory, it is encouraged. Register here if you dare!

The AKA’s and the Kappa’s are spreading the love with a mixer at Jae’s Cafe (520 Columbus Ave). They will be playing all the lovers hits from old school to current starting at 7pm.

Express your love – or lack there of – with an open mic at The Milky Way (284 Armory Way, Jamaica Plain) starting at 9pm. They will also show the film Cat Eyes and DJ Shasha will help you get in the mood…whatever that is.

Actor Chad Coleman from AMC’S The Walking Dead & HBO’s, The Wire joins the fight against domestic violence along side Life Love Life for their 2nd Annual White Ribbon Night Gala at Lombardo’s (6 Billings St, Randolph). The evening will celebrate men who take a leading role in combating violence against women. Partial proceeds from the evening will benefit Casa Myrna. Tickets are $50.00 and include dinner. Saturday, February 16

Celebrate Black History Month at Hibernian Hall (184 Dudley St, Roxbury) with the theatrical performance Walk On: The Story of Rosa Parks in the final performance at 2pm. Tickets are $15 (general admission) $10 for students/seniors. For tickets and more information click here!

Evolution O.V.E.R.D.O.S.E college fashion show is back for another year, and they are taking it off campus to the John Hancock Building (180 Berkeley St, Back Bay). With performances by Soul 4 Your System, DJ Real P, Chelsea Roberts and more!! Designs by Perpetual Anastasia, Pink Symmetry, Dri by Adrianna, Achk LuLu and Beeing. Show starts at 6pm. Tickets are $8 online. $10 at the door.

The Fab Awards Boston Tour kicks off at The Annual SneakerGreet Convention at The Greek American Club (288 Green St (Central Square), Cambridge) to present Edgard Arty with his Best Weekly Night award.  The event is 12 – 6pm, but we’ll be there from 1-3pm. Buy, trade, sell your kicks while listening to live music and DJs. Fill up on cash prizes and vendor giveaways. The event is all ages and $10 and you can purchase tickets in advanced here!

Next stop on the tour this evening will be to give out 3 awards, John Rodrigues Brewer (Photographer of the Year), The House of Nadhra (Designer of the Year) and DJ Bruno (DJ of the Year) for a house music inspired bash at The Machine (1254 Boylston St, Fenway). $5 before 11 pm. $10 after. Bring an open mind and your dancing shoes!
