Pics: DMV Kids Receive Books from ‘Five Years of Fab Book Drive’

The books have arrived! The books have arrived! With your help, The Fab Empire was able to raise over $2,500 for two schools in the DMV — DC Scholars Stanton Elementary in Washington D.C. and George Washington Elementary School in Baltimore, Md. — which equals hundreds of books for students.

Books, including Stink The Incredible Shrinking Kid; One Cent, Two Cents, Old Cents, New Cents; The Cat in the Hat; Are You My Mother?; Oh The Things You Can Do That Are Good For You; Judy Moody Predicts the Future; Berenstain Bears Go to Camp;  and Judy Moody Goes to College were given to the 250 students of George Washington on Thursday.

“The students were so excited to receive new books today during Independent Reading,” teacher Shamera Wilkins told us. “And we still have over $800 left to spend!”

The Fab Empire would like to thank our partner, First Book DC, for making it easy to raise money online to ensure our future leaders, doctors and lawyers are literate and critical thinkers. We’d also like to thank the Co-Chair of First Book-DC, Darla Bunting and teacher Shamera Wilkins, for making it possible to give back.
