The Beantown Jazz Festival is taking over Roxbury/South End this weekend along with the kick off of Boston Fashion Week (BFW), and sultry singer Miguel will be making the ladies swoon. Get out there and “Find Your Fab!”
The United Way’s young professionals group, the Emerging Leaders, kicks off another season of can’t-miss social and educational events, networking opportunities and volunteer experiences. with an after work low-key mixer at The Liberty Hotel (215 Charles St) 5:30 – 7:30pm. It will be a chance learn how to get involved in Emerging Leaders,$20 suggested donation at the door, which will benefit their youth program Youth Venture.
Go Local Boston is a rewards program for dinning locally. Celebrate their launch to help sustain local businesses at the Haley House (12 Dade St, Roxbury). The celebration starts at 5pm. I think there will be cookies! See you there!
If you’re looking for an open mic session head to The Western Front (343 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge). Ryan Collins hosts. Jazmin Yvonne & Kaylah with house band 2 O’clock Sunday. This is an 18+ event. Admission is $5. All mediums of performance art are welcome!
Boston Fashion Week (BFW) kicks off with The Tent Opening Night Gala. Guests will sip themed cocktails and enjoy canapés and food stations from Executive Chef Rachel Klein of Mandarin Oriental. Attendees will also enjoy a special appearance from Fern Mallis, widely credited as the creator of New York Fashion Week. The program will celebrate Fern Mallis’ role as an industry mentor as well as the work of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay for their contributions to the important work of mentoring local youth. 7pm – 11pm. Once again the streets of Boston will close along Columbus Avenue, beginning at Massachusetts Avenue and continuing to Burke Street for The Beantown Jazz Festival. The festival attracts more than 70,000 people who enjoy FREE jazz, food, arts, crafts, and family fun in the Natixis Family Park— complete with rides, inflatables, face painting, and the popular instrument petting zoo. 12pm – 6pm.
