Recap: Better Baller Athletics Presents ‘Cocktail for a Cause’

by Felice Leon

What do you get when you combine altruism, style, basketball, and happy hour? You guessed it, Better Baller Athletics’ fundraiser, Cocktail for a Cause.

Last week, Harlem’s do-gooders and believers were at Chocolat Restaurant’s private room toasting it up with Better Baller Athletics. Better Baller Athletics is a non-profit organization seeking to cultivate the next generation of student-athletes to become well-rounded leaders able to attain academic success.

Cocktail for a Cause supported the organization’s summer enrichment camp, Books and Basketball Summer Institute.

For a suggested donation of $20, supporters enjoyed good company, drinks, passed hors d’oeuvres, and were entered into a raffle… now, you cannot have a fundraiser without a raffle! Supporters had the opportunity to win an array of prizes courtesy of Danielle B. Jewelry and Tonnie’s Minis (foodie alert: Tonnie’s Mini’s is said to have the best cupcakes on this side of the Hudson, yum!).

Better Baller’s Founder and Executive Director Alexis B. Stanley said, “I am proud to be apart of a movement as great as this. To see so many friends and family to come out and support Better Baller Athletics’ efforts to provide at-risk youth with opportunities towards higher education truly warms my heart.”

It warms our heart too, Alexis… Fab loves the kids! Keep up the good work.
