The weekend is finally upon us again! Whoo hoo! With this dismal weather, I bet you could use a few incentives to get off the couch and be active…it is spring after all, isn’t it. Here’s some great ways to get you started!
Wednesday, May 18
• President Obama was in town alongside Celtic’s all-star Ray Allen and the legendary Bill Russell will be at the South End’s Cyclorama (539 Tremont St.) today in support the presidents 2012 Election Campaign.
• State representative, Gloria Fox will be leading a discussion on the politics and historical movements that have taken place since the 60’s in Roxbury. This free event will start at 7pm and will be held at the Haley House Bakery Café (23 Darmouth St, Roxbury).
Thursday, May 19
• Head to the funky “Hip Soul Fusion” presented by Futuristic Soul at the Bella Luna Milky Way Restaurant & Lounge (284 Armory St, Jamaica Plain). This event will feature guest appearances by designers Coco and Breezy, an art showcase, as well as live entertainment by local performers and Boston’s eclectic DJ Bruno. Show starts at 8pm

• In need of a good laugh? • En Vogue makes an appearance at Showcase LIVE (23 Patriot Place, Foxboro). They’ll do all of their original hits as well as some new. Tickets are $32.60 and are available at the door!
Saturday, May 21
• If you feel like exercising your creative juices, the Mass Market DIY Flea Market (621 Huntington Ave) will be the perfect event for you! This market will feature fine art, music, baked goods, clothing and much more. A great opportunity to shop, swap, and surf through items. Enjoy tunes by DJ Athena and DJ Al Rev. It all starts at 11:00 a.m. and with a $1 entrance fee, you can’t lose!

• The annual SoWa Open Market (460 Harrison Ave) will open for the summer and will feature a chance to support local vendors, farmers and artists. The market is open every Sunday from 10a.m.-4p.m. and will last until the end of the summer
• Olivia of VH1′s Love and Hip Hop, will perform at The Greatest Bar (262 Friend St, North End). Local artist Noel Gourdin has recently been added to the line up.
