Last night, R&B star Ginuwine and his wife Sole threw a Sweet 16 party for their daughter Cypress Lee at Eden in Northwest. Instead of receiving gifts for the big day, their daughter requested guests to donate money to the Somaly Mam Foundation (www.somaly.org), committed to ending modern day slavery in North America and around the world. The birthday party raised over $2,000 for the charity.
Of course, dad Ginuwine performed an a cappella version of Happy Birthday for his daughter before she blew out 16 candles. Paul Wharton of Bravo’s Real Housewives of DC also joined the fun and 14-year-old sensation DJ Young Music provided the beats while guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres from Cafe Asia and cupcakes from Frosting: A Cupcakery.
