Over seven thousand Washingtonians celebrated newly elected Mayor Vincent Gray at his inaugural ball on Sunday night. Braving the cold, D.C. residents dressed in furs, stilettos and suits headed to the Walter E. Washington Convention to celebrate with Mayor Gray. Musical guests like the “Godfather of Go Go” Chuck Brown and R&B singer Raheem DeVaughn entertained guests while D.C. notables such as Big Tigger, Jamie Foster Brown and Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton mingled in the crowd. While some were disappointed many were excited to be in the number to welcome a new mayor to the city.

  • I did not stay long at mayor gray’s ball.. because of the rope they put up.. It was truly not a one city celebration…there was NO ! need to fence people out.. One City Coming together to celebrate Gray’s Victory is what I was looking for at this event .. it was not happening so I went home. I did not see Charlie Brown perform..and I did not see any of the new fake city worker..WoW.. Already I can see Vince Gray as a one time mayor…Damn!!!!
