Brandon Crump, 22, a senior Sports Management major at Howard University got the ultimate Christmas gift. After tweeting Diddy, the music mogul who attended Howard, over 200 times, Crump received a phone call from the man himself asking, “Do you want to come party with me?”
Crump, who promotes parties at Lotus Lounge in Northwest, got the idea after discovering prices to party with Diddy in Las Vegas’ Luxor Hotel ranged from $1000-$2000. On his student budget, Crump could not afford that. Instead, he tweeted on Tuesday, “Yo @iamdiddy…me and my friends are staying in the Luxor for NY…can we get some bison love on your NYE party?”
“I pretty much told my friends, we’re going. This is it!,” said Crump.
A native of Chicago, Crump received his first response from Diddy‘s twitter account that simply said, “What’s up”.
“Wow, this can’t be real!,” said Crump of receiving that tweet. “P.Diddy did not just tweet me!”
Oh, but he did. Nearly four hours later, Diddy responded again saying, “@XclusiveCrump SEND ME YOUR # RIGHT NOW AND ILL CALL YOU ASAP….BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR LOL. #BISONLOVE.”
Crump sent his number across the interwebs. And after receiving a number of prank phone calls, four to be exact, Crump finally heard from the man himself. Still, by this time he didn’t believe it was actually him.
“A man answered and said, “This is Diddy.” I said, “No it’s not.” He said, “What do you mean…” and then I hung up. I didn’t think that it was him.” Seconds later Diddy called back via his assistant and said, “Did you really hang up? Do you know who this is?”
Crump was speechless. He apologized and said, “I want to party with my big brother.” And he’ll get to do just that.
Diddy said it was his persistence that made his wish come true,”You had Howard backing you up and most importantly you believed that you were going to talk to me.”
Diddy gave Crump some suggestions when partying with the mogul: “Don’t be late, don’t get lost, dress fly and remember what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.”
