The city was buzzing last night over the grand opening of its newest nightlife venue; Select Lounge (415 N. Paca). In honor of its first night Belvedere Vodka sponsored the event and Events 4 Good People CEO, Azikiwe hosted. I was pleasantly surprised when I approached the venue to find the More Belve party bus parked out front lighting up the street, men dressed in suits, and an orderly line. The young women at the door were friendly, but stuck strictly to the guest list. The security guards had no attitude, but would not let you in if you weren’t dressed appropriately.
It was like a breath of fresh air to see a venue actually stick to its rules, I hope it last:) Upon entrance party goers were greeted by models and treats from Class Act Catering. Attendees also enjoyed open bar courtesy of Belvedere Vodka. One of the best things about Select Lounge is its incredibly long bar. Unlike most venues, you have absolutely no problem getting to the bar. However, I would suggest they add another bartender or two for crowded nights like that:) Although it was open bar, I saw lots of people give up after waiting forever to get a drink.
D.J. Quicksilva kicked the night off on the wheels of steel and had the crowd partying from 8p.m.-10 p.m.. As usual he got the party started the right way. D.J. Trizzy and D.J. Face were up next, and I must say it was easy to tell right away when Quick left the building. The mood music of the party changed and I found myself sitting for a long time. It could have just been my section, but as I looked around I noticed more people standing around talking and sipping like it was a cocktail reception instead of a party, that’s never a good sign. Thankfully D.J. Lil’ Mic closed the night out with a bang playing the latest new school and old school. I was reminded last night how important a good D.J. is to any party. Yes, you should have music for everyone, but it’s also important for the music to be consistently great.
Lots of notables were in attendance including: DeJuan D Hov, The Flywire team, Urbaninformer, D.J. PChris, D.J. Infame, Distinguised Gentlemen, Gary Gray, Danny P., Trix, Zeeke, Jason Morgan, Lola Monroe, Tarin of E4GP, and Ty of HeyBella.
Kudos to Azikiwe for the open bar, sticking to the attire, and representing Baltimore, as the Belvedere Brand Ambassador.
Overall, it was a beautiful night with beautiful people.

More bartenders and consistent music! A good DJ definitely makes a difference. Overall it was a good start. Like you said lets hope they can keep it up.
