It was the most talked about party of the month: New Orleans Saints’ Darren Sharper hosted “I Am Legend” at Teatro Goldini last Saturday. In what reminded us veteran party-goers as a nod to the iconic parties at Olives years ago, Teatro brought glamour to the District in a way I haven’t seen all year. Let me break it down:
Everyone kept asking me, “How was it? Who was there?” It was sort of indescribable…if you were there, you knew you were in the right place. No, Reggie Bush didn’t show up…but his groupies did! Reggie, you owe some ladies in D.C. hundreds of dollars because every third girl was disappointed he didn’t show. Still, Darren Sharper arrived a little after 1 a.m. with DJ Quicksilva keeping everyone’s mind off of Reggie Bush with great music.
“I Am Legend” was part three of a series of monthly parties entitled “Three Magic Words”, a high end party concept developed by TEAMBBC, Dave & Ray and The Standard. Although the parties were off to a slow start, it seems that “I Am Legend” showed the party’s full potential: a swanky atmosphere, an exclusive feeling and great music.
The “step and repeat” complete with red carpet made every party goer feel like a celeb. And with bottles of Ciroc flowing, everybody seemed to have a carefree time.
Also, Teatro Goldini seemed to be the perfect location with it’s New Orleans-themed decor.
“I’ve never felt this particular aurora at a D.C. event,” recalls Collin O’Brien of Clockwise Clothing. “Everyone was on their red carpet fashion. I felt like I was in L.A. again.”
Still, I wish there were more men just to balance out the ratio. Women outnumbered men in too much of a noticeable way.
Spotted were teammate Pierre Thomas, NFLers Visanthe Shiancoe, Brian Westbrook, Stephon Heyer, and Navarro Bowman, as well as Teatro owner Michael Kosmides and socialites Ryan Shaffer and Adria Woods.
