Last Thursday, October 15th was my actual birthday! Whoo hoo! I kept going back and forth with what I wanted to do, but being the party gal I am I guess it shoulda been obvious from the beginning – par-tay!
My first stop was at Mantra where I was surpised by my longtime friend Hayden!! Yay!! and they were having the Boston Unplugged Volume 4, where I was on the Host Committee. I came in and was pleasantly surprised by the friendly service at the door. As that has not been the case for me in the past. Once inside it really felt like an industry party. Justin Springer and Solonje as well as other organizers did a really great job of setting a stage area, and a separate VIP area (separated by a rope). The musical act I was able to see was Lorenzo who has a very sultry tone, but I think went a bit heavy in on the sexy R&B and each song always had a repeat of one two words — sexin’ you, sexin’ you…I mean it’s okay in one song, but two?
Another young performer from Berklee…Berklee was definitely in the house that night decided to perform an acoustic version of Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face”. Ehhhh not the best selection, plus it’s hard to get into an acoustic performance when you’re sitting on a chair in a short skirt…I just kept thinking…sweetie I hope you remember to close your legs before you get up! I was genuinely concerned.
The environment was very eclecctic and I really liked how people were interacting with one another. One thing that I do credit Justin for is providing an ideal environment for people to interact and connect. I wish more artists would take advantage of these opportunities. Much respect Justin!
For the second half of my birthday I went back and forth on wether I wanted to try something new at Underbar with MJ’s Relapse or guaranteed fun at Pearl. Again, obvious choice…Pearl. But I must metion that MJ extended an invtation for me to have my birthday with him, but due to cirumstances beyond his control the party was moved to Caprice. My pre-birthday celebration there last Friday was a DISASTER, so I opted to not have a repeat performance.
Mr. J Production was going to be my VIP representative, but he let me know he wouldn’t be able to be at the club until later. So, I sent my girls ahead to secure the table which ran into a bit of snag. Fortunately Mistrie came to the rescue and got us set up, and when there was no cocktail watiress…daggone Boston!!, he played that role too by bringing our drinks to the table and even pouring them. Now THAT is over-the-top service and the Mistrie that I know. Thank you again so very much for your attentiveness and poise!
DJ Alcide, paid his respects on the tables along with my first formal introduction to Mr. Energy who promised to bring it and absolutely complied. Also big shout outs to the crowd of Pearl who were fun, hospitable and FRIENDLY!! – Hype Man Broc, Jack (J Young Fresh), Chip, Hennsley, Claude Sanon, Siruius Black, Wyndell, – - who all came by to pay their respects and assisted in one way or another whether it was buying me drinks I didn’t need or carrying me to my car…don’t worry I wasn’t driving
For all the poise and stature I try to uphold on a regular basis, my birthday is one of the two days (the other one is New Years….look out!) where I all ow myself to let go. So if anyone was over-looked over, drunk dialed, spoken to harshly please let this be my public apology. You know I “heart”all of you immensely blame it on the al-al-al-alcohol! And gal you know for real is back to business as usual
I also want to thank my Fab! Gal pals for helping me celebrate my birthday the way I wanted, We can now close down the party train for a lil’ while…from BK to Beantown we go, we go hard, we go hard!
And for those of you who didn’t make it out thank you for the cards, shout outs on Facebook and Twitter YOU ARE THE BEST!!
Stay Fab! MUAH!
Grade: A! LOL
