Rick Ross
The Rapper Rick Ross has been the self-proclaimed “boss” of Hip-Hop and the lifestyle that comes with it. Rapping about girls, making money, violence is just the least of things that are thought of when you think of Rick Ross. The last thing we thought we would see is Rick Ross on BET’s Lift Every Voice, a show that “used to be” dedicated to the audience of Gospel Lovers to see and hear the story behind their favorite Gospel Artists and Pastors. Now it has turned into an extension of forcing the viewer to see the inkling of the good in Gangsta Rappers & R&B Artists beyond the typical “Thanking Jesus” at Award Shows to convince us that they really have a relationship with Christ. Just my opinion.
I didn’t get the chance to watch it on air but I knew there would be a lot of persons that would have a LOT to say about it, but first you watch and you be the judge.
Here is what one viewer had to say to Coco Brother after watching it:
An Appeal to CoCo Brother
And I also I want to make an appeal to CoCo Brother… If you are reading this please know that I appreciate your heart and zeal for the lost. I love the fact that you want to reach the entertainment industry for Christ. You have zeal that is needed in many Christians today. But let it be according to knowledge and wisdom (Romans 10:2). You can’t try to win the lost by approving their lifestyle and not addressing their sinfulness. Before they can be of any use to God, they must first be made new. That only comes from repentance and acceptance of Jesus’ Lordship.
Many of your comments and questions were presumptuous, and gave an open door to Rick Ross to think that his lifestyle is acceptable in the eyes of himself and God. As well, I’m sure many babes in Christ and youth may think it’s now okay to go out and purchase Rick Ross’ music. Not so. So please do not do that. His lifestyle and career are the cause of much sin in the earth right now. Rick Ross needs to humble himself and repent. The last thing he needs to do is minister to God’s people or anyone for that matter. How can he help someone when he has dirt (a mud pile) in his own eye? He is not yet fit for the Master’s use. He must first be sanctified, which means to be set apart for God. More than anyting, God is holy, and we must remember that.
I love you, brother. The purpose of this was not to put anyone on blast, but to shame the devil and let truth arise. Please don’t take this personally. I love God, I love His people, and I love the lost just like you do. But if the lost don’t see a difference between themselves and Rick Ross, how will they ever repent and come into the knowledge of the truth?
God bless you, my brother.
Rick, come on in bruh. Give your sin to Jesus. Right now you’re holding them. The ball is now in your court. We love you, dude. Real talk.
i am flabergasted at the fact that corey can sit there and converse with people such as ll cool j and rick ross about being “christians” yet, they live such a lifestyle that is SO contrary to that which God has said we should live. there is no holiness, righteousness, or purity within them or anything that they do. their trees bare bad fruit and i know them by their fruit. the things that these rappers talk about, how they degrade themselves, others and their communites and this society is not, nor can not EVER glorify the Father or His kingdom. He said “be holy for i am holy”. as followers of His Son, we are to be holy. how are these men holy? it is easy to sit there and say, “I believe in God, i’m a christian” but i ask, does your life show that you KNOW Him. many ppl say they believe in Him but still sin. so merely saying it does not give them free passes into the kingdom. how can one promote fornication, drugs, drinking, vanity, greed, status coupled with profane language and have the audacity to say that they are christians? r u kidding me. that is why the world looks at christians like we are scum of the earth. too many ppl pay lip service to this “lifestyle” without living the “lifestyle”. i have heard corey say that we can’t judge others, so therefore how can one say that someone is not a christian. LOOK AT THEIR LIFE! i most certainly can judge you if you make my God look bad. you can’t live a sinful life and profess the name of my King. I take offense to that. the world is watching thinking , why be a christian if they live the same lifestyle a i do? this is a mess and i pray to God that those in darkness be brought into His marvelous light.

Only those without sin can say anything against CoCo brother, Rick Ross, LL or whomever. There is no difference in promoting fornication, homosexual acts, stealing or lying to another. Sin is sin. ONLY those without sin can judge. If this is so, then we need to be very busy looking at ourselves and not looking at anyone else. My Paster said just this past Sunday that we Christians do more damage to our well being and to the body of Christ who listen to such negativity than satan can ever do. I know I am guilty.

It’s nothing wrong with reaching out to the hip hop community, actors and entertainers that are secular, but we have to keep it 100 if we’re going to do so. Coco said they were keeping it 110, but they weren’t. If were going to speak to these people we can’t act like their life styles are cool, just because they put a little Jesus in it from time to time. If you’re a christian you must submit yourself totally to Christ. The Pursuit of money promoted by Rick Ross and many other entertainers in no way exemplifies the life GOD wants us to live. Let’s bring light to darkness and expose what’s being done that the truth may go forth and set the captives free. I’m not perfect and I often fall short of his glory, but I know who my master is and Jesus is his name. I repent daily and strive to present my body as living sacrifice unto Christ. Let’s all do the same, Peace n Love. . .

Hello Coco Brother. I like your show and I am not here to ofend anyone. The bible tells us Judge not that ye be not judged. God says why do we look at the speck in your brother’s eyes, but have not considered the plank in your own eyes. We must first examine our own sin. God said that we have all sinned and fallen short of His glory. I beleive that prayer is in order for those individuals and all who have not given God their lives, for after all we christians, also came to God broken. We came to God as condemed buildings in need of a major over-haul. Ladies and Gentlemen of Christ lets stop complaining, and lets start PRAYING. God has blessed us with a new year and with new mercies. My name is Mrs. Gilmore and I am the founder of a fairly new organization called REACHING THE UNREACHABLE this is a organization that is designed by God. This is a organization that is focused on tackling the violence and negative behavior that is blanketing our communities. People of God lets do something about the violence. I need true born again people of God to step up to the plate and help with working on the negative, then we will see more positive. If you would like to assist our organization, or learn more about us please leave your info. at http://www.rgilmorejr@aol.com

@ Will….
Yes the bible says not to judge but it’s funny how thats the first scripture that people pull out. There are hundreds of passages that instruct christians to be Holy. The bible…says “come out from among them.
When Jesus saved the adulterous woman from getting stone. Before the woman left he told her something imPortant “Sin no more!” and if you know scripture he often healed and said those same words. look up the word Christian in any dictionary it will say, a Christian is one that follow the teaching of Christ. That disqualifys a lot of people. Study to show yourself approve! In scripture Paul put a guy out the church because he was sinning. Later in scripture the man turned from his evil ways and Paul said for the church to except him back. But God was holy then and is still holy. Scripture says love of the world is emnity against God. Make your calling and election sure. If that scripture was taken in the context your saying Pastors in church couldn’t address their members.

Thank God you said it. He won’t accept my emails. B.E.T. is going to hell….and people need to quit saying that’s ‘judgement’. The bible is clear about mixing the profane with the sacred. It’s abominable. That episode was my LAST watching Sunday Morning programming on B.E.T.
106 & ‘Gospel’ was another example that those people don’t have saving souls as their focus. It’s all about status, sex appeal, and MONEY!!!! I left my 3 yr job in Gospel Radio, with my very own music radio show, for this very reason.
God is not pleased.
Thanks for your strength of character by calling this out.
